How to Bid on Items
On BNSBids, buyers can bid on items and compete against each other to purchase the item.
An auction can last for a few days depending on the duration when it started, the maximum amount of days any auction can last is 14 days.
If your bid is high enough to take the lead in the auction a confirmation message will be displayed. The bidder with the highest bid, equal to or above the Reserve Price, is considered the winner of the auction, however, if your bid has not taken the lead you will have the option to make further bids. A notification email will be sent to let bidders know about the status of the auction.
Note: If a bid did not match the Reserve Price then the price will show in red, and the auction will continue as set until reaching the Reserve Price or any price above it.
When you place any bids on items, the items will be added to your current bids page, buyers can see the status of a bid or retract a bid from the Current Bids (Home > Members Area > Buying > Current Bids) menu.
Note: All types of vehicles and property listings are non-binding but this does not mean you can press buy it now or place a bid with no intention of completing such a commitment.
You can place as many bids as you want on an item.
How To Place Bids:
1. Find the item you'd like to bid on.
Check the images and the description of the item and all other important details.
2. Enter your chosen amount into the bid box then click the Place Bid button. (no currency symbols are required)
3. confirmation screen will display the minimum bid needed and will allow you to adjust your bid accordingly.
You will now see confirmation that you are the high bidder or a message telling you that you have been outbid, or the reserve price was not met.
You can also add a proxy bid:
A Proxy Bid means that you bid an amount that is higher than necessary. The auction software will raise your actual bid to the minimum necessary to try and stay in the lead but will remember your maximum. If someone else comes along and tries to outbid you, the auction software will automatically place additional bids on your behalf up to the value of your proxy bid.
For Example, if the current bid on an auction is 100 you can place a proxy bid of 200. Should you remain the only bidder you will only pay 100. However, should the item receive other bids, we will automatically keep re-bid for you up to the value of 200 as provided by you (the bidder) to ensure you remain in the lead.
How to proxy bid:
Adding a proxy bid is similar to placing a bid as explained above.
1. Find the item you'd like to bid on.
Check the images and the description of the item and all other important details.
2. Enter your chosen maximum amount into the bid box then click the Place Bid button. no currency symbols are required.
This will activate the proxy bid system and we will bid on your behalf up to the value of your proxy bid
3. confirmation screen will display the minimum bid needed and will allow you to adjust your bid accordingly.
You will now see confirmation that you are the high bidder or a message telling you that you have been outbid, or the reserve price was not met.
You can readjust your proxy bid by increasing or decreasing your proxy bid amount.
If you would like to cancel the proxy bid then simply adjust your bid to match the Minimum Bid value shown below the bid box.
Sellers can include a buy-it-now or make an offer option, one or both options will be visible on the details page if the seller has included the options.
Making An Offer:
Some sellers allow potential buyers to make an offer to buy their items, to avoid having to wait for the auction to end.
If the Make Offer option is available and you would like to make an offer to buy the item, Enter your offer in the make offer box and click the Make Offer button and click OK, your offer will be confirmed and submitted to the seller.
Offers between buyer and seller are managed on the offers page in your account, you will need to check the status between you and the seller.
Buy it Now:
Some sellers allow items to be purchased instantly at a fixed price "buy it now", the buy-it-now option will override any applicable reserve price, however, if the bid amount becomes greater than the buy-it-now price, BNSBids will automatically remove the buy-it-now option.
Note: Buyit now cannot be retracted.
If the buy it now option is available on the details page and you would like to buy the item, click the buy it now button, a popup window will appear with some options, select the option that applies to you.
Click proceed and you will be directed to the payment gateway page, select a payment method and click on the make payment button.
All buying activity "unpaid or paid" will show within your "Purchases" page, you can manage everything from this page.
If you wish, you can check the invoice to make sure the details are correct and can select any option the seller may have provided before you make the payment.
We recommend rechecking the payment information provided by the seller because some sellers may require payment within 24 hours - it's best to check.
