Electrical and Electronic Equipment
Some Electronic equipment is deemed unlawful by Ofcom in the UK and the Commission for Communication Regulations in Ireland, these items are not allowed on BNSBids at all.
We also don't allow the listing of items that are intended to record private oral, wire, or electronic conversations or activities of other people without their knowledge.
(Note: If the information is not mentioned within any of our prohibited and restricted policies then please check with your local laws in regards to the item you have)
Just a friendly reminder that it's always a good idea to check the local laws and regulations for the destination country/state before shipping outside your local county/state.
This can help you avoid any potential legal issues and ensure a smooth shipping process.
Make sure you follow our guidelines and all local and international laws. Failure to do so may result in having the listing removed or your account being suspended.
We allow the following:
Radio transmitting equipment is allowed, only if it complies with (R&TTE directives), the equipment must be marked with the 'CE' mark.
Cordless telephones that operate on frequencies above 853 MHz are allowed but in the listing, the description must include (Authorisation) from Ofcom.
Radar detectors are allowed, but you must not offer postage to Ireland.
Video senders that operate outside the frequency band 470-854MHz are allowed.
The following is Restricted:
Any Business seller who sells Electrical and Electronic Equipment (“EEE”) to consumers, you are considered to be a 'distributor' of Electrical and Electronic Equipment (“EEE”).
Note: For electrical waste in other countries/states outside the UK and EU please follow your local regulations if any is available.
As a 'distributor' you must comply with these certain obligations:
- Take back obligation - You must provide the customer with the opportunity to return old Electrical and Electronic Equipment (“EEE”) free of charge on the purchase of a replacement item that you have provided.
- You can provide this option by registering with the Distributor Take-back Scheme which is run by Valpak, and supports a network of collection facilities where any consumers have the opportunity to return their Waste Electricals and Electronic Equipment (“WEEE”) or by offering to take Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (“WEEE”) when consumers purchase a replacement item from you.
- Obligation to inform consumers “You must make such information available to consumers” on how they can dispose of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (“WEEE”), as well as the environmental benefits of doing so. Any Business seller who sells Electrical and Electronic Equipment to consumers should include such information in the listing description or within your “About Me page” or your store. The “Distributor Take-back Scheme” will provide members with information in a standard format. You must keep records of how you provide this information.
- All Business sellers who sell Electrical and Electronic Equipment (“EEE”) to consumers must follow the local country/state regulations.
For electrical waste in the EU
The following is Prohibited:

Items that claim to block/jam or interfere with police radar equipment are not allowed to be listed.
Listings for items that can be used to decode or encrypt transmissions, or access cable, digital, terrestrial, or satellite television programming without any payment or authorization are not allowed to be listed.
Any items that claim to change traffic lights/stoplights or otherwise take control of the traffic signal are not allowed.
Listings that are seen to be encouraging or provide any information on how to decode or access cable, digital, terrestrial, or satellite television programming without authorization or payment are not allowed at all.
- Any type of blocker devices.
- Any smart card programmers and unloopers.
- Test cards or 'Stealth Switches' for test cards.
- Any hardware or software DSS emulators.
- ISO 7816 Programmer.
- Un-99, DDT, and DAT devices.
- Any modified decoder boxes.
- Any programmed smart cards.
- Video senders transmitting inside the frequency band of 470 - 854 MHz.
- CB radios that operate within the frequency band 26.1-28MHz.
- Odometer modification devices.
- Miniature transmitters.
- Any bugging devices.
- Microphones that can be used for surveillance.
- Any cordless telephones that operate on frequencies below 853 MHz.
- Listings that promote the use of photographic devices to record or view individuals for sexual purposes surreptitiously.
- Any CB radios if it does not comply with the R&TTE Directive or comply with the R&TTE specifications Directive.
- FM modulators: Devices that use the FM broadcast band which can transmit radio signals to any type of radio.
- Devices that can be used to jam/block mobile phones (or any other radio signals including GPS and Wi-Fi).
- Devices that fail to comply with plugs, sockets/ extension plug-sockets, adaptors, and fuse links ( if it fails the Safety Regulations 1994) you can't list it.
We will add, remove or make changes to this policy on request from registered organizations or the law.
